Not long ago I started my first post-studies job at one of the largest family-owned conglomerate businesses in Kuwait. The process of getting into that job was intense, time consuming and worthwhile. It had us – new joiners – undergo a training program that prepares us to be successful leaders in both our professional and business lives.
Now after a couple of months into the job I do realize that a huge effort was spent on training and helping us in adapting to the workplace and in assimilating us to the vision, mission of the company. While I do feel that this is great in part of a true broader induction and training in which new employees have actual responsibilities, job tasks, and participating in team work when possible. I personally feel that this broader aspect of being part of the team from day one and getting accountability, acknowledging efforts and work done is a crucial part of one’s career path.
It is still too early to build a decisive decision on whether the experience I am going through in natural to all workplace or if it’s just me being the one out of tune. The process of me moving beyond this process have been set in place for now and would be carefully, if planned well, executed in the upcoming weeks.
